My
name is Mark Boettcher and I live with my wife, Linda, on a small ranch
in central McHenry County, Illinois. We have between 10 and 15 horses at our
place. I stumbled upon Applied Equine
Podiatry while I was researching all of the different methods out there
and I came to the
conclusion that what Dr. K.C.
La Pierre was teaching was the most factual and to the point method
I had found. So much of what he teaches is backed up by new
scientific studies done by himself, Dr. Susan Kempson,
Dr.
Robert Bowker,
Dr. Hilary Clayton and a host of others. Thus, I decided to go
thru KC's Diploma program that includes an extensive college level
online module program that I would highly recommend to anyone that has
an interest in their horse's feet and realizes how important they are. I was so
overwhelmed by the fact that the horses foot is one of the most
important and most overlooked aspects of the horse that I decided to
make it a goal of mine to help as many horses as I could to achieve a
high level of performance so as to live as healthy a life as possible.
It is surprising how much of the horses health depends on his feet.
It is just as important for the pasture pet or the high stakes race
horse to have the healthiest feet possible. There are a lot of
$500 backyard horses out there suffering more than people know because
horses are very tolerant to bad conditions and a lot of people just
don't see the signs that the horses are giving them.
I also have learned a lot from Clinician
Chris Cox on the safe handling
and training of horses. I enjoy working with the horses as much as
trimming them. I look at the difficult ones as a challenge.
I will always be a student of the horse. More to come.... |
